About Me

Why I Do What I Do

I think web design is the most inspiring facet of the internet. It both challenges and inspires; it forces me to understand the technical challenges that always arise, yet explore the creative ideas that always seem to come from the most arbitrary places. I love the fact that you can never do it the same way twice.

As a web designer it is always my goal to provide a site that inspires yet allows the user to find exactly what they're looking for, without having to put the puzzle together first before they get there. I always strive to keep up with the latest technologies and implement them in a way that best suits the task at hand. Communication is key in ensuring that the client gets what they need for maximum results.

Where I Came From and How I Got Here

For most of my life Regina, SK, Canada has been my home. I recently moved to Edmonton, Alberta to pursue some new opportunities so I'm excited to see what's next around the corner!

A lot of what I do stems from the desire to learn new technologies and ideas, but I wouldn't have been able to put new ideas to use without some excellent training. Two years and a diploma from SIAST's Computer Systems Technology (CST) program gave me the tools and abilities to really take projects to the next step. They provided hands on training, application of processes and methodologies, and real world situations to put that training to good use.

Some of the Tech I Know

Technology is awesome because it never stands still. Once you think you know something, something new comes along that forces you to rethink everything. I would be lying if I told you I knew it all, but here are some technologies that I do know:

  • XHTML, HTML5
  • CSS2, CSS3
  • Javascript, AJAX, JQuery
  • PHP, ASP.net, JSP
  • C#, VB.net, XAML
Some of the applications and platforms I use to put it together:
  • Dreamweaver, Coda, Photoshop, Illustrator, Visual Studio
  • Mac OS X, Windows, Linux

Where Does It Go From Here?

The first part of the decade was about the web, now it's about mobile computing. Apple's iOS and Google's Android platforms have taken the world by storm. Knowledge of technologies such as Cocoa, Objective C, and Java are going to be paramount over the next few years. Stay tuned, you might be purchasing one of my apps from the app store or marketplace!
